Abstract

With the objective of studying the potential existence of seasonality in the consumer price index (hereinafter CPI), different sub-periods between 1992 and 2016 are analyzed, for the general level of the CPI and for different decompositions of the Index and even with a three-digit disaggregation of the CPI. The results show the absence of seasonality in the general level of the CPI. However, when working with disaggregated indices according to the different decompositions analyzed, identifiable stable seasonality is found for some of the sub-indices studied.
