Bank credit, Argentina, 2001 crisisAbstract
The regime change that occurred in Argentina at the end of 2001 provides a historic opportunity - a natural experiment - to explore the behavior and performance of economic agents demanding and offering financial services in a context of modification of the incentive structure. The main objective of this document is to explore how the demand for appropriation of third-party resources by productive units was validated through the allocation of economic resources to companies through the bank credit market. Thus, we will expose and analyze the statistical regularities observed in this market, especially considering the way in which the characteristics of the economic agents influence the observed behaviors.
